As part of ongoing efforts to educate and increase public awareness about HIV, the International Business Division???s HIV Committee will host an HIV Lunch and Edutainment event entitled: An Afternoon of Intrigue, this Friday, February 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and 1:00 to 2:15 p.m.

It will take place in the ‘Bajnational Cafeteria’, Baobab Tower, Warrens, St. Michael.??The event precedes Love Safely Week, which is being celebrated from February 8 to 14.

It forms part of the Division???s continuing 2014-2015 HIV/AIDS programme, which speaks to one of the more at risk population, men who have sex with men. Themed: HIV and Men ??? The Unspoken Truth, the programme is being held in accordance with the Government of Barbados??? National Strategic Plan 2014-2018.

According to the HIV Focal Point of the International Business Division, Marlene Hewitt, the edutainment event speaks to HIV stigma and discrimination in the workplace.

???It promotes the HIV message in a dynamic and exciting manner, while exposing the Ministry???s staff to biases and prejudices within the workplace against the key population of HIV-affected and non-affected persons. It therefore seeks to bring about behavioural change,??? she explained.

The session is being produced for the staff of the International Business Division, the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office and the International Transport Division. It will be followed by lunch and a question-and-answer session on Stigma, Discrimination and Human Rights in the Workplace.
