The first 50 persons who register a business name at the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office’s booth, at the Business Fair and Expo – the Community Edition, this Saturday, June 25, will pay 50 per cent of the cost of a business name registration.

This means that those 50 registrants will have to pay $52.00 in cash, instead of the current registration fee.  This applies only to individuals registering a sole proprietorship, and is limited to one business name registration per person.

Persons are advised that the registration of business names is an online process.  As such, registrants must walk with a soft copy of valid, government-issued identification (passport, ID card or driving licence) for upload to the system to complete the registration process.  This can be saved as a pdf document or jpeg image on persons’ phones or other devices, or in their email.

The Business Fair and Expo – the Community Edition will be held at Hoyte’s Pavilion and Playing Field, Hoyte’s Village, St. James, from 10:00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. It is being hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Business, in conjunction with the Barbados Trust Fund Limited (BTFL).

The initiative is aimed at stimulating economic activity within the productive sectors, and targets business owners, persons looking for investment opportunities and other members of the public.

It will also give persons an opportunity to interact with ministry officials, as they share information on starting a business, business development, accessing financing and dealing with debt, as well as standards development, among others.

There will be several DJs playing music throughout the day, and from 5:00 p.m., there will be a cultural presentation and several live performances from popular local artistes.
