HIV? Choose Information Not Infection.

That is the theme of this year’s HIV/AIDS fair hosted by the Barbados Vocational Training Board (BVTB) which is scheduled for Friday, November 25, at the C. Lomer Alleyne Skills Training Centre, Sayes Court, Christ Church, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

According to Senior Clerk of the BVTB, Jennifer Walker, this theme was chosen to encourage persons to equip themselves with information so they could prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

She explained the fair was part of an on-going process at the BVTB to encourage their staff and trainees to adopt sustainable behavioural lifestyles and to avoid contracting HIV.?? Residents in the Sayes Court area have also been invited to attend.

Chairman of the National HIV/AIDS Commission, Dr. Nigel Taylor, will deliver the feature address at the opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m.??

Patrons attending the fair will be able to participate in a number of activities including aerobics sessions by Areal Johnson; along with breast screening and HIV testing and counselling, which will be conducted by the Ministry of Health. The Barbados Diabetes Association will provide blood sugar and blood pressure testing.??

The fair will also feature sporting and fun activities such as road tennis, dominoes, competitions, give-a-ways, and HIV/AIDS focused entertainment.
