Participants in the Barbados Vocational Training Board’s International Cooking class got an opportunity to draw on the experience of two Italian chefs recently and can now boast of being able to make at least one Italian dish.
Chefs Gino Marchetti and Gianpierro Tondina visited the All Saints Centre in St. Peter, along with Italian resident chef at The Crane, Gianna Poggio, and took students through the steps necessary for the preparation of Risotto – a rice-based dish.
The event was organised by the Crane Hotel, and according to its Director of Marketing, Joanna Robinson, the demonstration formed part of that hotel’s continued investment in tourism in Barbados, through partnering with institutions which are responsible for training future workers for the hospitality sector.
Students from the Barbados Community College’s Hospitality Institute, the Lodge School and the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic were also on hand to witness the presentation.??kmoore@barbados.gov.bb
