Blackman Gollop Primary School,??in its early stages of construction. (FP)??

Come next week, the members of Cabinet will tour two newly built schools, which are scheduled to be opened at the beginning of the next academic year.

According to officials in the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, the tour will begin on Monday, August 15, at the Maria Holder Nursery School, located in Sharon, St. Thomas, at 9:30 a.m.

From there, the party will move on to the Blackman Gollop Primary School, an amalgation of the St. David’s and South District Schools, which is situated in Edgerton, Christ Church.

The Maria Holder Nursery School is a timber and wall structure with a floor area of 5,226 square feet and is built to facilitate a maximum roll of 120 students, while the Blackman Gollop Primary has a floor space of 35, 500 square feet and caters to a maximum of 630 children. The latter establishment also boasts three specialist teaching rooms, library, management/administration office, sick bays, two nutrition serving areas, teachers’ point and covered assembly area.
