When this year’s Junior Fire Cadet Programme gets under way at Arch Hall Fire Station, Arch Hall in St. Thomas, some young Barbadians will be taught crucial life skills and traits.

Designed to instill character, confidence, self-esteem and self-discipline, the five-week summer holiday training programme by the Barbados Fire Service, is scheduled for July 9 to August 17.??

Now in its 11th year, it will teach 12 to 15 year-old students to be first responders in their homes and communities in the event of natural and man-made disasters, which occasion emergency situations.

Entry into the programme is by registration form and a follow-up interview.?? To this end, application forms may be collected from the Headquarters of the Barbados Fire Service, Probyn Street, Bridgetown, or the Arch Hall Fire Station, Arch Hall, St. on weekdays, from Monday, June 4, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Forms may also be downloaded from the website http://www.fireservice.gov.bb/ and must be returned to any of the mentioned stations on or before Friday, June 29.??
