The Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office (CAIPO), in association with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), will host a seminar on the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) for attorneys-at-law and patent agents, as well as staff in the Ministry of International Business and Industry, tomorrow, Thursday, May 31. It will be held at Baobab Tower, Warrens, St. Michael.

A key objective of the training is to sensitise and provide guidance to legal practitioners and other interested persons about the PCT System and its procedures. It will also examine matters to be implemented and provide insight into some of the most recent developments within the division.

Registrar of CAIPO, Heather Clarke, will welcome participants and provide an overview of the patent systems in Barbados at the start of the seminar at 9:00 a.m.

The main facilitators will be Senior Programme Officer, Patent Cooperation Division at WIPO, Nyalleng Pii, and Head of the PCT Department, National Institute of Industrial Property in Chile, Henry Crew Araya. The two will address: WIPO and the International Patent System – Advantage of the PCT and the Filing of an International Application – E-PCT System.

The workshop runs until 5:00 p.m.
