Barbadians are being urged to nominate individuals, schools, community groups or organisations for the Timothy Hoyte Award, slated to be presented by the National Arbor Day Committee.
The environmental award honours the late Mr. Hoyte, who was a dedicated pioneer in the field of agriculture and horticulture, with over 50 years experience. It will be given to individuals or groups who have consistently facilitated or promoted the importance of trees, tree planting, and after care and environmental awareness, in general, over the 12 month period from September 2008 to August this year.
Special consideration will be given to individuals or groups who have successfully executed or co-ordinated a significant event or project.?? There should also be evidence of significant community involvement, which improved or changed the attitudes of the populace at the community or national level, and substantially increased forestation.

The award will be presented by Minister of the Environment, Dr. Denis Lowe, at the National Arbor Day ceremony on Tuesday, September 22, at 10:00 a.m. at Queen’s Park. The theme for this year’s celebration is:?? ???Trees: The Circle of Life’.
