Camp Transition, which helps primary school children and their parents cope with making the transfer to secondary school, will be held online this year.

Camp director, Margaret Grant, said the decision was made to hold a virtual camp because of COVID-19.  The annual camp is usually held at The St. Michael School.

She pointed out that in addition to the usual preparation for secondary school, the camp will this year provide extra guidance to help participants offset the challenges posed by COVID-19, which could impact the transition process.

“Every major adjustment to secondary school life will be explored, and campers will leave camp with a toolkit complete with techniques and strategies to cope with the usual and the possible new challenges, while helping them to excel academically and maintain their physical, emotional and social well-being,” Ms. Grant explained.

There is also a senior camp, the Career Success Summer Camp, for children aged 13 to 19. Heavy focus will be placed on helping them find their purpose in life to chart their future.

It will also comprise strategies for success at CSEC, CAPE and beyond; scholarship opportunities; the path from job search to job acquisition; and how to use their time, talents and hobbies to seize entrepreneurship opportunities.

Interested persons may register for the camps by clicking here for the registration form. The junior camp will be held from Monday, August 17, to Friday, August 21.  The senior camp will run from Monday, August 24, to Friday, August 28.

Registration closes for both camps at midnight on Wednesday, August 12.

The number of campers will be limited to allow for interactive, individual and small group online engagement. For further information, persons may direct queries to camptransition@gmail.com, or call or WhatsApp 250-1960.
