Every dog has his day and, come next month, canines in Barbados will have not just one but two days in the spotlight during a Dog Fair being held on Saturday, October 5, and Sunday, October 6, on the grounds of Roberts Manufacturing Co. Ltd, Lower Estate, St. Michael, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The fair, which is part of National Animal Week, is being held by the Ministry of Health???s Animal Control Centre in collaboration with Roberts Manufacturing Co. Ltd. The week is a celebration of World Animal Day on Friday, October 4.

During the two-day fair, there will be information on dog care and dog care services by the various humane societies, the Animal Control Centre, the Veterinary Services Unit of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Barbados Veterinary Association.

Displays in obedience training and dog handling will be conducted by the Barbados Dog Training Club and the Royal Barbados Police Force???s Canine Division. There will also be Cutest Dog contests in addition to fun activities for dog owners and their dogs.

Entertainment will be provided by Sing Out Barbados, Collin Spencer and top Richard Stoute Teen Talent contestants. There will also be spoken word poetry by Rebel Glam, dramatic presentations by students of the Lodge School and much more.

There is a nominal admission fee and children under the age of five as well as dogs will get free entry. However, entry for dogs will be allowed after noon each day. Ticket box offices are all Super Centre Supermarkets, C.S. Pharmacy, Bridgetown, and the Roberts Farm & Pet Mart, Lower Estate, St. Michael. All are invited.
