The Government of Barbados in collaboration with the Barbados Accreditation Council will host the Sixth Annual Caribbean Area Network for Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education Conference (CANQATE), from October 6 to 8, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

The theme of the conference is: “Balancing Quality and Quantity: The Global Challenge for Tertiary Education.”

As a prelude to the conference, the board of management of CANQATE will be in Barbados from March 4 to 6 to meet with the Barbados Accreditation Council.

CANQATE is a professional body which was established as a sub-network of the worldwide organisation, the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE). Since its inaugural conference in 2004, an annual conference is held in member countries around the Caribbean in an effort to bring together policy and decision-makers, educators and professionals to share ideas and experiences in the area of quality assurance in tertiary education.

This year’s conference is expected to be beneficial to post-secondary/tertiary institutions, professional bodies, employers’ and employees’ organisations and other interested groups and individuals.

For further information on the conference, interested persons are asked to contact the Council at 436-9094, or via email at canqateconf2009@bac.gov.bb Registration forms and further details may be accessed on the website at www.bac.gov.bb or the CANQATE website at www.canqate.org.
