The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, in the Ministry of Commerce and Trade, has advised members of the public that they should adhere to the regulations which govern the importation of vehicles, namely the Miscellaneous Control Act CAP. 329.

The Act states that to qualify for an import licence, reconditioned or used motor cars must be not more than four years old and the odometer reading must not exceed 50 000 kilometres.??

Importers of all vehicles falling under Tariff Heading 8703 are subject to the import licensing regime.?? In addition, importers of the Toyota Noah are asked to note that, although it is an eight-seater vehicle, it is considered a car, and, therefore, falls under the aforementioned Tariff Heading.??

Failure to comply with these regulations may result in confiscation of the vehicle.?? For additional information on the Act and its regulations, persons should contact the Department at 437-3552.??
