Unemployed and underemployed persons are invited to a Career Showcase next Thursday, May 3, in the car park opposite Granny’s Restaurant, Oistins, Christ Church, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The initiative is being hosted by the Christ Church South Constituency Council to collect information regarding the employment and training needs of the participants in an effort to formulate programmes that will cater to them.
Information will be provided on a range of topics including: the Barbados Vocational Training Board’s Skills Training Programme; preparing job applications; Hotel School; the Ministry of Labour; Barbados Investment and Development Corporation’s Craft Persons; the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic; the Barbados Small Business Association; the Royal Barbados Police Force; the Barbados Community College; and the University of the West Indies.
In addition, there will be an interactive session on Self-Esteem Building / Peer Pressure; Conflict Resolution; Small Business Management; and HIV/AIDS. Persons will also be on hand to conduct demonstrations in basketry, soap making and jewelry making.
