Acting Prime Minister, Freundel Stuart??

When the 11th Annual Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development (STC-11) opens here at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC) on Sunday, May 9, Acting Prime Minister, Freundel Stuart will be its keynote speaker.

The Opening Ceremony will run from 7:00 until 11:00 p.m. and will be infused with a cultural potpourri featuring The Mighty Gabby, the St. Leonards Boys’ Choir and the Royal Barbados Police Force Band. An exhibition of arts and craft, from local and regional vendors, will also be on display.

The STC-11 will be hosted in Barbados for the first time and is expected to bring a number of regional and international delegates to the island. Organised by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) and the Ministry of Tourism, it will run from May 9 to 12.

Several highly qualified and experienced tourism professionals will make presentations during the conference, which has as its theme, Keeping the Right Balance: Creating Opportunities Through a World Class Sustainable Tourism Product.??Among them will be Geo-tourism Editor at National Geographic Traveller, Johnathan Tourtellot.???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????????

The STC-11 represents part of the information dissemination and regional awareness component of the CTO’s strategy for sustainable tourism. High on the agenda will be the issue of how member states can design and implement sustainable tourism policies and programmes.
