Regional customs officials will gather in Barbados next week for their annual symposium.

Entitled the Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC) XXXIII Annual Conference, it takes place at Divi Southwinds Beach Resort, St. Lawrence, Christ Church from Tuesday, May 24, to Friday, May 27.

Under the theme ???Professional Customs Management: Through Human Resource Development’, it aims to create greater awareness of the need for human resource development and professionalism among customs officers as countries embark on a modernisation process.

It will get under way with a pre-conference executive committee meeting on Tuesday, May 24. The CCLEC conference will be officially opened on Wednesday, May 25, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with welcome remarks by Acting Comptroller of Customs Frank Holder; an address by Director General, Dominican Republic of Customs, Rafael Camilo; and Secretary-General World Customs Organisation, Kunio Mikuriya. Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Chris Sinckler, will deliver the keynote address and host a press conference immediately after. (CL/BGIS)
