A Caribbean Leadership Project Development Programme will get under way on Monday, January 28, at The Cave Hill School of Business, University of the West Indies.

The programme is designed to support public service leaders in developing their capacity to contribute more effectively to regional integration, economic growth and gender-sensitive public sector reform.

Funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the seven-year project was created to support the leadership and economic development training needs of regional and national public sectors in 12 CARICOM countries.

Participating nations in the project are: Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago. The executing agency is the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS).

An opening ceremony for the course will take place on Monday, January 28, beginning at 8:30 a.m.?? Acting Head of The Civil Service, Permanent Secretary, Martin Cox, will deliver an address, along with Canada’s High Commissioner to Barbados and the OECS, His Excellency Richard Hanley; Minister for Counsellor (Development), and Canada’s Director to the Caribbean Development Bank and CIDA, Louise Cl??ment; Former Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Civil Service, Avril Gollop; and Project Director, Caribbean Leadership Project, Colleen Rossiter, among others.
