CARICOM nationals and associated agencies are being invited to participate in the We Barbados Procession on Saturday, November 30, at Kensington Oval, following the Independence Day Parade.

The invitation is being issued by the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), with Barbados’ Ambassador to CARICOM, David Comissiong, acting as the coordinator.

Ambassador Comissiong will have a banner marked ‘Our Caribbean Community Salutes Barbados’, and persons are asked to assemble in the lot behind Kensington Mall (old DaCosta Manning Building adjacent to Kensington Oval) by 9:30 a.m., for the commencement of the procession at approximately 10:00 a.m.

The Caribbean Unit of the procession, which will culminate at Queen’s Park, has been included to send a message of Caribbean unity, brotherhood and sisterhood.

CARICOM participants are asked to contact Ambassador Comissiong at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade at 535-6641, or 832-0067, or by emailing dcomissiong@foreign.gov.bb.

All Barbadians and Caribbean nationals are encouraged to be part of the procession and to bring their Caribbean colours and flags.

This year’s We Barbados Procession, with over 1,500 persons on parade, will include floats, music trucks, community groups, vintage cars, and various school orchestras and bands performing on two specially mounted stages in Lower and Upper Bay Street. In addition, the NCF will have marshals and water stations en route, and a medical point in Jubilee Gardens.

A free park and ride service will be in place between 5:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and one and a half hours after the event, at The Garrison; Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall; and the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, in St. Michael; as well as Queen’s College, at Husbands, and the NCF Headquarters, West Terrace, both in St. James.

Parking will also be in place at the Flour Mill site and transportation will be available at Queen’s Park to return participants to the Flour Mill site at the end of the procession.
