As Barbados gears up to host CARIFESTA XIII in August, the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) is looking to conduct a special research project for persons who participated in, worked at or witnessed any of the events of CARIFESTA 1981.

According to Research Officer at the NCF, Michelle Springer, 36 years ago, Barbados experienced “a renaissance of national cultural expression” as a result of hosting CARIFESTA.

“Artists and creatives across the island were inspired to look inward at their own ways of being to create works of art.  Therefore, we are looking to reconnect with any of those individuals,” she explained.

To this end, persons are invited to share their memories with the National Cultural Foundation’s CARIFESTA’81 Oral History Project beginning from Thursday, June 1 to Monday, July 31.

Further information may be obtained by contacting Ms. Springer, at 417-6628, or emailing michelle-springer@ncf.bb.
