The late Carl Ince, who was the fourth Chief Information Officer at the Barbados Government Information Service (BGIS), was viewed as a strict, but fair boss.

Former Chief Information Officer, Margaret Hope, described him as a hard worker who had high principles, which did not always find favour with everyone with whom he worked.

Mr. Ince, who loved law, will be remembered for his television programme, featuring cartoon characters Bert and Gert, which was intended to educate Barbadians about legal matters. This was one of his outstanding contributions during his tenure at the BGIS.

Mr. Ince worked at the BGIS from 1979 to 1981. After leaving the BGIS, Mr. Ince held a number of positions, including Chief Cultural Affairs Officer, and Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.

He also served as an Ombudsman after his retirement from the public service. Mr. Ince, who was 82, died on Thursday, July 30, after a brief illness.
