Another batch of successful partnerships will soon be awarded funding to the tune of $800,000, from the Competency-Based Training Fund (CBTF).
The second round awardees will be announced at a cocktail reception hosted by the CBTF Management Unit, Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council, on Monday, January 26.??
It will be held at the Sea Breeze Hotel, Maxwell, Christ Church, from 4:30 p.m.
Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Senator Harcourt Husbands, and Minister of Labour, Social Security and Human Resource Development, Senator Dr. Esther Byer, will address the event, along with Inter-American Development Bank (IDB???s) Country Representative, Joel Branski.
The CBTF is a Government of Barbados/IDB initiative, established to better equip the Barbadian workforce with the skills and competencies needed to excel in the 21st century market place.
A key component of the Skills For The Future programme, the CBTF is on track to disburse $13 million over a three-year period via three rounds of funding. The Fund, which is managed by the TVET Council, aims to train and certify employed and unemployed people in competency-based areas.
The CBTF closed its Call for Proposals on September 30, 2014, having received 39 submissions. Second round awardees will join seven other successful partnerships which were allocated a total of $3.6 million in the first funding cycle.??The third round Call for Proposals will open on February 3 and close on March 30, 2015.
