Barbados will join several countries in celebrating World Tourism Day, which is commemorated each year on September 27. The world-wide celebrations are led by the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

The purpose of the day is to foster awareness among the global community of tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value, and the contribution the sector can make in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals. This year’s theme is Tourism and Jobs: a better future for all.

In celebration of World Tourism Day 2019, Codrington College, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, will offer two, free guided tours on Friday, September 27, at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., which will each run for approximately 30 minutes.

Come and enjoy this historic experience led by Codrington College’s resident tour guide; learn of the 200-plus years of history of the Codrington Estates; and stay on to explore the Great House and its scenic grounds.
