The Barbados Statistical Service (BSS) will not be releasing preliminary data collected from the 2010 Population and Housing Census by the end of next month as planned.

An official from the department explained that enumerators were still gathering information from districts that had been missed during the six week exercise which began on May 2 and ended on July 11.

The Census is designed to assess changes to the Barbadian population and housing landscapes since 2000, when the last Census was carried out by the BSS.???? It is also aimed at providing information on what the country needs to know in order to develop policies and programmes to benefit the public.

The BSS is reminding the public to cooperate with enumerators, as all information collected will be treated in the strictest confidence, as stipulated by the Statistics Act Cap 192.??jwilson@barbados.gov.bb
