Members of the public will view the precision and skills of the over 1,000 troops participating in the Independence Ceremonial Parade on Monday, December 1, from a changed route.

The parade, which begins at 8:00 a.m., was relocated from the Garrison Savannah to the Bridgetown Port following recent inclement weather.

It will see the armed and unarmed units exit the north gate of the Bridgetown Port on to University Row, where Prime Minister Freundel Stuart will take the salute in front of Barbados Port Inc.

The troops will march towards the Elsie Payne Roundabout, on to President Kennedy Drive, and turn right on to Fontabelle. They will then proceed straight ahead to Cheapside, on to Chapel Street, before turning right on to Prince Alfred Street.

The detachments will then turn left on to Broad Street and proceed to Trafalgar Street; turn right on to Bridge Street, and cross over the Charles Duncan O???Neal Bridge.

The armed detachments will then turn right on to Fairchild Street and proceed to Independence Square, where they will be dismissed, while the unarmed units will march straight on to Probyn Street for their dismissal in front of the Bridgetown Fire Station.
