The Rights of the Child and related legislation were the key issues discussed, when UNICEF Representative for the Eastern Caribbean, Ms. Khin-Sandi Lwin, called on Attorney General, Adriel Brathwaite, at his Wildey headquarters this morning.
Ms. Lwin told the Attorney General that the last UNICEF report was updated in 1999, and legislation needed to be more current to this effect.
In response, Mr. Brathwaite noted that he was in the process of taking to Cabinet a paper for a comprehensive review to cover juvenile legislation.
Other issues discussed were the Family Law Act, reform of the Juvenile Justice System and the Convention of the Rights of the Child.
