Barbadians interested in studying in Chile now have the opportunity to access scholarships, via the International Cooperation Agency of the Republic of Chile (AGCI).

The agency is offering scholarships for postgraduate studies at the Masters level, to professionals with a university degree employed as government officials in ministries or public services.

They may include academics, teachers or researchers from the campuses of the University of the West Indies. Applications must be submitted according to the programmes in the list provided at the link: http://www.uwi.edu/Files/Anexo%201%20Accredited%20Institutions.pdf .

Prospective candidates must provide a reference from the institution where they are employed, and must limit their applications to thematic areas offered for the academic period. Applicants must also be proficient in Spanish, which is the language of instruction for all postgraduate programmes.

Studies for which scholarships are awarded must start in March or September of 2015. Candidates may visit http://www.uwi.edu/lacc/scholarship2015_chile.aspx for further information and the relevant documentation required for submission.

Applicants must apply directly to the higher education institution in Chile for admission to the respective programme. Only applicants for full-time studies will be considered.

Original documents must remain in the possession of applicants, and will be required only from those selected, upon arrival in Chile. This measure has been set up to expedite the selection process in Chile.

Applications will not be accepted which have not been officially submitted by the Embassy of Chile in Jamaica, the Embassy of Chile in Trinidad and Tobago, or the representative from the Latin American ??? Caribbean Centre of the University of the West Indies (Mona Campus).

The deadline for submitting full documentation (hard copy and electronic) is Monday, December 15, 2014. Applications received after the deadline, will not be considered.
