President of the Republic of Chile, Michelle Bachelet has arrived in Barbados. Her aircraft landed promptly last night at 10:45 at the Grantley Adams International Airport.

She was greeted and welcomed by Chief of Protocol, Philip St. Hill; Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean; Permanent Secretary, Cecile Humphrey and Non-Resident Ambassador of Chile to Barbados, Fernando Schmidt.

Today, Thursday, August 24, President Bachelet will meet with Acting Governor-General, Sir Philip Greaves, in a courtesy call at Government House.

She will then join Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and several senior Government officials at Ilaro Court for a working meeting.

Additionally, the Chilean President will visit the headquarters of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, Lower Estate, St. George, and will attend a special luncheon hosted by the Prime Minister.

President Bachelet is expected to depart Barbados later this afternoon.
