Vice Premier, Hui Liangyu, will head a Chinese delegation to Barbados next week which is on a hemispheric tour; having made official visits to Argentina and Ecuador prior to arriving here. It will go on to the Bahamas from Barbados.

A Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) exists between the two countries. The DTA explores cooperation in areas such as investment opportunities, financial services and tourism.

In May 2008, Barbados announced that it would establish a diplomatic mission in China to promote this country’s interests in trade, financial services, investment and tourism. At that time, it was also announced that former Prime Minister, Sir Lloyd Sandiford, will be the first resident Ambassador to China.

Six other CARICOM countries have already established embassies in Beijing.
