Barbados is in need of a multi-purpose performing arts centre.

This was emphasised by Minister of Family, Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley, during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador, Wei Qiang, at the Warrens Office Complex, yesterday.

In turn Ambassador Wei deemed the establishment of such a centre, as a significant undertaking, and expressed his government’s eagerness to pursue the venture pointing out the importance of the existing bilateral agreement between the two countries.

Minister Lashley also disclosed plans for an international youth sports camp, in which countries such as China would be involved. He said that this would foster the exchange of cultural experiences, and in addition, Barbados could also benefit from China’s coaching expertise. Barbados and China established diplomatic relations in 1977.??sharifa.medford@barbados.gov.bb
