Barbadian students looking to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate studies in China may apply for the 2020 Chinese Government Scholarship.

The application process is open to citizens of Barbados who are in good health. Persons pursuing undergraduate studies must be under 25 years old, and possess a minimum of five Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) certificates, grades 1 or 2, at the general proficiency level.

Applicants pursuing the Master’s degree must be under 35 years and hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least lower second class honours. Additionally, applicants pursuing a doctoral degree must be under 40 years and hold a Master’s degree.

Successful applicants must be willing to study the Chinese language for one to two years before pursuing their major studies in Chinese instructions.

Students are required to click ‘Application on line for International Students’ and enter the following programme category: ‘Type A’ and Agency Number – 0521. 

Three completed application forms and relevant documents, of which one should be original, including the Foreign Physical Examination Form and the applicant’s birth certificate should be submitted to the Tertiary Section of the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, no later than January 10, 2020.

Applicants are expected to meet their own travel to and from China. For further information on the scholarship, persons may visit the Ministry’s website or the Tertiary Section of the Ministry of Education.
