The Christ Church Parish Independence Committee (PIC) will be hosting several activities throughout April in celebration of its parish month.

The activities are part of the PIC’s efforts to reach out to the residents of the various communities in Christ Church, to foster a greater community spirit as they gear up for the independence celebrations later in the year.

On Sunday, April 18, the Committee, in association with the Silver Sands HIV/AIDS Education Committee, will host a 20/20 cricket match between ???The Best of Barbados’ and ???The GT’s’ at Annie’s Lime Tree Bar, Upper Carters Gap, Christ Church, starting at 1:30 p.m.

This will be followed on Saturday, April 24, by a treasure hunt, starting at 6:00 a.m. at the Super Centre/Big B Car Park, Worthing, Christ Church.

On Sunday, April 25, residents of the parish are invited to give thanks during a church service at the St. Matthias Anglican Church, St. Matthias, Christ Church, at 8:45 a.m.

The highlight of the activities will be a lecture and discussion on the topic "Our Heritage: Christ Church We Come From". It will take place on Tuesday, April 27, at the Cuthbert Pilgrim Memorial Hall, Maxwell, Christ Church. (Located next to Bethlehem Moravian Church.)

The lecture will be delivered by trade unionist, Robert "Bobby" Morris at 7:00 p.m. and the moderator will be Wendell Callender.

The month of activities will culminate on Heroes Day, Wednesday, April 28, with the PIC visiting five of the oldest Barbadians living in the parish. Committee members will present them with food hampers and gift baskets.

Persons interested in participating in the events or requiring further information are asked to contact the Secretariat at 436-9660 or 427-6675 or the Christ Church PIC at www.christchurch@gmail.com.
