Barbadians will have an opportunity to upgrade their computer literacy skills when the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC), in conjunction with Cisco Systems Inc., hosts a special network training workshop, next week.

It will be held from Tuesday, May 26, to Thursday, May 28, at the Bagnall???s Point Gallery, Pelican Craft Centre, Princess Alice Highway, St. Michael, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.

Certified representatives from Cisco Systems Inc. will instruct participants in routing and switching concepts, with emphasis on areas such as VLAN; Layer 2-3-4 Switching; Static and Dynamic Routing and Distance Vector Protocols.??

They will also be exposed to the latest security features applications that would enhance network security and guard against the unauthorised access to data.

Given the importance of external and internal communications within a business environment, the Cisco team would also outline the benefits of using a modern IP Telephony platform to improve business efficiencies.

Minister of Economic Affairs and Empowerment, Innovation, Trade, Industry and Commerce, Dr. David Estwick will deliver the feature address during the official opening.
