With the launch of a Barbados civil aviation website, this country is well on its way to meeting the demands for added business activity and economic growth.

That is the word from Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, Senator Rudy Grant, who spoke today at the Sherbourne Conference Centre at the launch of the Department of Civil Aviation’s new website.

He told the gathering that “civil aviation represents a critical success factor for tourism and trade in Barbados,” pointing out that this was emblematic of a highly foreign customer base, which would benefit from easy access to necessary information on the civil aviation website.

He further noted that “in this prevailing global environment, access to information and services cannot be restricted to eight hours a day but must be provided on a twenty-four hour basis; (and) the launch of this website will assist the department in being better equipped to meet the demands of its stakeholder partners.”

The website provides an overview of the department’s role, functions and responsibilities; pertinent information for users; and facilitates limited interactivity in the  form of completion and printing capability of some forms online; e.g. application for technical examinations, student pilot’s licences, renewal of licences, radiotelephony licences and aircraft status reports.

The website may be viewed by visiting www.barbadoscivilaviation.com.
