The dangers of climate change for the Caribbean will be the focus of a British High Commission-sponsored film ???The Burning Agenda’, which premieres next Wednesday, October 28, at 7:00 p.m. at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination.

Minister of the Environment, Dr. Denis Lowe, who will be joined by several officials from his Ministry, is expected to deliver brief remarks prior to the screening.

The 30-minute documentary highlights the dangers of climate change for the Caribbean, particularly the impact of sea level rise and temperature increase. In addition to key footage from several Caribbean countries, it also features interviews with climate science experts, as well as CARICOM Heads of Government, including CARICOM Chair and climate change campaigner, President Bharrat Jagdeo of Guyana.

The film also examines the role of regional governments and the international community in responding to the potential crisis caused by catastrophic climate change. It is scheduled to be broadcast on CBC and Caribvision later this year.

The event will include a short question and answer session with the film’s producer, Dr. Owen Day and Lead Author of the UN Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change, and Senior Lecturer of the University of the West Indies, Dr. Leonard Nurse.
