Government has embarked upon a series of initiatives aimed at educating the tourism sector about the effects of climate change.

One such drive is the Ministry of Tourism’s Fourth Annual Multi-Hazard Disaster Management Symposium, which will be put on under the theme “Tourism in Barbados – Responding to Climate Change.”

The conference, comes off at the Sherbourne Conference Centre this Wednesday, September 24, starting at 9:00 a.m., and it will address a number of important issues related to this global phenomenon.

The key objectives of the seminar are to educate stakeholders about climate change and its impact on the tourism sector; encourage tourism entities to adopt planning techniques into their own property preparedness programmes; and chart a way forward for the tourism industry in disaster management.
