Ways in which this country and Greece could forge closer ties were discussed recently, when Greek Ambassador Nikolas Kotrokois met with Barbados??? Foreign Minister, Senator Maxine McClean.

The two held talks at her Culloden Road, St. Michael office, where they discussed the possibility of a Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) between the countries, as well as cooperation in a number of sectors, including tourism and the cruise industry.

Senator McClean highlighted the advantages of having a DTA and explained how it could be beneficial to both countries.

Mr. Kotrokois gave an update on the economic situation in his country, explaining that they had signed a stability agreement with the International Monetary Fund and other institutions, and were also in the process of adopting legislation to implement a number of reform measures.

He also commented on the tourism industry in Greece, pointing out that more than 25 million tourists had visited the Greek Islands so far this year.??Barbados and Greece established diplomatic relations in 1987.
