A closing ceremony and presentation of prizes for winners of an essay/poster competition on Bullying and HIV/AIDS for students of the Springer Memorial School will be held this Thursday, April 26, at the School on Government Hill. It is being hosted by the social work group of the Barbados Community College and will get under way at 1:30 p.m.

The competition on Bullying and HIV/AIDS was conceptualised as part of the group’s assignment for the BCC course SOWK 210 and executed at that school on March 13.

The main objective of the project was to inform and educate the students on specific social issues, namely bullying and HIV/AIDS. It was also conducted with a view to minimising the incidence of bullying throughout the school’s population and reducing HIV/AIDS infections among the youth.
