A massive food drive aimed at children and intended to supply this country’s HIV/AIDS Food Bank with healthy food, will come off Saturday December 6, at Sheraton Mall.

It will be spearheaded by Annie the Clown in collaboration with other well-known clowns Bravo, Hopey, Pooksie and Waynie and could be the first time that clowns have come together for a cause or event.

They have chosen the event to create awareness among children of the importance of healthy food for people living with HIV (PLHIV) and its key aim to collect 1000 non-perishable food items for the HIV/AIDS Food Bank, between 2.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m.

While it is anticipated that the donations would bring cheer to PLHIV this Christmas, the five clowns expect that children across the island will come out in large numbers to make their donations in exchange for twisted balloon shapes and stickers. Children will also be able to take photos with and meet their favorite clowns.

Collection bins will be placed in the Sheraton Mall and volunteers from the HIV/AIDS Food Bank will be on site to assist the clowns in collecting the donations and providing children and their parents/guardians with information on HIV/AIDS and the role of the Food Bank.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to allow their children to come out and bring Christmas cheer to those in need with healthy food choices.
