The Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and the Coastal Zone Management Unit will host a coastal hike to commemorate World Tsunami Awareness Day on Sunday, November 8.

Persons are asked to meet at the Folkestone Park, Holetown, St. James, by 2:30 p.m., to meet the shuttle. 

They will be taken to Mullins, St. Peter, for the 3:15 p.m. start of the hike, which will journey to Clinketts, St. Lucy. The shuttle will meet hikers in St. Lucy, and return them to the Folkestone Park.

Hikers are asked to note that they must register to participate by signing up via this link. Those who register via the link will be issued with a pass for the shuttle, on arrival at Folkestone.

COVID-19 protocols will be in place and persons are encouraged to walk with hand sanitiser and masks, and observe social distancing. They should also wear comfortable shoes and walk with water. Persons may call the DEM at 438-7575, for more information.

The UN-designated World Tsunami Day is observed on November 5 each year, and is designed to raise awareness about the coastal hazard.
