Barbadians will, this Independence, have the opportunity to learn more about their country via the use of cell phone technology.

The opportunity comes as the Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU) in collaboration with Go-click Technology, for the second year running, produces an Independence Challenge Game akin to the popular ???Bus Ya Brain’.

?????????????????? According to Director of the CZMU, Dr. Leo Brewster, the game, which will be played on November 29 and 30, would be available via web-active cell phones, as well as the CZMU’s website.

??"It is unique, innovative and has worked very well.?? People get to learn quite a bit.?? It is supposed to heighten environmental awareness, local and cultural awareness, as well as provide information on tourism and biodiversity in Barbados. People who played last year said they truly enjoyed it," Dr. Brewster said.

??"The idea is to get people in tune with using various applications on cell phones. It will comprise a series of multiple choice questions which makes persons eligible to win various prizes," he explained.

In terms of the procedure, Dr. Brewster added full instructions on the start up would be available via advertisements in the print media. He noted, however, that the initial procedure would entail the downloading of free software.

Grand prizes compliments of some hotels and guest houses, as well as small give-aways would be presented to various winners.??cgaskin@barbados.gov.bb
