In commemoration of African Heritage Month, the Combermere School, at Waterford, will host its "Cultural Awareness Day" tomorrow Friday, March 4, at that institution, from 9:00 a.m.

A signatory to the UNESCO Transatlantic Slave Trade project, the school will showcase among others, a potpourri of food, dance, poetry, calypso and tuk band music highlighting the culture of enslaved persons. The cultural presentations in the afternoon will see performances by the Mighty Grynner; Danse Nationale Afrique, AJA, Sing Out Barbados and the school’s steel orchestra.

Chief Executive Officer of the National Cultural Foundation, Donna Hunte-Cox, will deliver the feature address.??

African Heritage Month, which was observed in February, saw various schools across the island staging programmes that included the wearing of African garb and hair styles and the exhibition of artefacts and children’s work.??
