The commissioning of the Barbados National Standards Institution’s (BNSI) Metrology Laboratory is set for Tuesday, March 15.

And, a ceremony will be hosted by the BNSI and the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards & Quality to officially signal the opening of the National Metrology Laboratory, at Culloden Road, St. Michael, to the business community, and introduce the sector to its new services.

The hour-long event, which will begin at 10:00 a.m., will be live streamed via Zoom, to a local and regional audience.  Members of the public who want to be a part of this important event may register by clicking here.  A confirmation email with details on how to join the meeting will be received after registering.

The commissioning follows significant upgrades by the BNSI and Government to retrofit the national measurement laboratory.

The laboratory has been outfitted with additional equipment through support from the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) EPA and CSME Standby Facility for the Capacity Building project entitled: Strengthening of the Regional Quality Infrastructure Programme in Barbados, Dominica, and St. Kitts and Nevis.

In addition, some of the new services of the laboratory were made possible by the support of the European Union, through the CARIFORUM and CDB offices.
