The series of town hall meetings on the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination (BSSEE) will now start in January 2013.

Parents and guardians of children who will be taking the 2013 BSSEE, familiarly known as the Common Entrance Examination, are encouraged to attend at least one session, which begins on January 5.

An initiative of the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, the familiarisation sessions also target principals and teachers with the aim of sensitising all stakeholders about the processes involved in the administration of the BSSEE.

Senior Education Officer, Glyne Price and Education Officer, Everton Briggs, will conduct the sessions, which are scheduled for various venues across the island. The two officers will, among other things, instruct persons about how to fill out the forms used in the BSSEE, including those for choice of school, deferral and special requests. All meetings will begin at 5:00 p.m.

On Saturday, January 5, the first town hall meetings will take place at Milton Lynch Primary, Water Street, Christ Church and Roland Edwards Primary, Battaleys, St. Peter.

The following day, Sunday, January 6, meetings will be held at St. George Primary School, Glebe, St. George and Ignatius Byer Primary, Lowlands, St. Lucy.

Sharon Primary, Sharon, St. Thomas and West Terrace Primary, St. James will be the venues for another meeting on Tuesday, January 8, while on Thursday,

January 10, George Lamming Primary School and A. DaCosta Edwards Primary School, Belleplaine, St. Andrew will host similar sessions.

Ministry officials will move to Blackman and Gollop Primary, Staple Grove, Christ Church and Mount Tabor, Mount Tabor, St. John on Saturday, January 12.

This will be followed by meetings at Bay Primary School, Bayland, St. Michael and St. Joseph Primary in Horse Hill, St. Joseph on Sunday, January 13 and on Tuesday, January 15 at the Eden Lodge Primary in Eden Lodge, St. Michael and St. Lucy Primary, Trents, St. Lucy.

Grazettes Primary, Grazettes, St. Michael will be the venue on Wednesday, January 16.

Other schools where meetings will be held in January are: St. Bartholomew’s Primary, Parish Land, Christ Church and Cuthbert Moore Primary, St. Helen, St. George on Thursday, January 17; Princess Margaret Secondary School in Six Roads, St. Philip and St. Stephen’s Primary, St. Stephen’s Hill, Black Rock, St. Michael on Saturday, January 19. All meetings will begin at 5:00 p.m.

The town hall sessions on the Common Entrance Examination will culminate on Sunday, January 20 at St. John’s Primary, Glebe, St. John.

Parents and guardians have been urged by the Ministry of Education to attend any meeting convenient for them.
