Parents and guardians of children who will be taking the 2013 Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination (BSSEE) are being encouraged to attend at least one session in a series of town hall meetings on the BSSEE, which will begin on December 5.

An initiative of the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, the familiarisation sessions also target principals and teachers with the aim of sensitising all stakeholders to the processes involved in the administration of the examination, familiarly known as the Common Entrance Examination.

Senior Education Officer, Glyne Price and Education Officer, Everton Briggs, will conduct the sessions which are scheduled for various venues across the island. The two officers will, among other things, instruct persons on how to fill out the forms used in the BSSEE, including those for choice of school, deferral and special requests.

"It must be noted that year after year there are issues with the correct completion of the choice forms as it relates to the out-of-zone schools, so we urge parents to come and be guided by the presenters," said Mr. Briggs.

All meetings begin at 5:00 p.m.
