Parents and guardians of children who will be taking the 2015 Barbados Secondary Schools??? Entrance Examination (BSSEE) are being encouraged to attend at least one session in a series of town hall meetings which begins on December 10.

An initiative of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, the meetings aim to familiarise parents about the processes involved in the administration of the exam.

They will also target principals and teachers, key stakeholders in the BSSEE, familiarly known as the Common Entrance Examination or 11 Plus. Senior Education Officer, Glyne Price, and Education Officer, Everton Briggs, will conduct the sessions at various venues across the island.

The two officers will, among other things, instruct persons on how to fill out the forms used in the exam, including those for choice of school, deferral and special requests. They will also field questions.

On Wednesday, December 10, the first town hall meetings will take place at St. Bartholomew Primary School, Parish Land, Christ Church, and George Lamming Primary School, Flint Hall, St. Michael.

Meetings will be held again on Saturday, December 13, at Roland Edwards Primary, Battaleys, St. Peter, and the Church of God of Prophecy (beside Milton Lynch, School, Water Street, Christ Church).

The following day, Sunday, December 14, parents and guardians have a choice of participating in meetings at West Terrace Primary, St. James, and Sharon Primary, Sharon, St. Thomas.

Cuthbert Moore Primary in St. Helen, St. George, and Bay Primary, Bayville, St. Michael will be the next venues for meetings on Tuesday, December 16, while on Wednesday, December 17, Luther Thorne Memorial Primary, Wildey, St. Michael, will host a similar session.

The team from the Ministry will journey to St. Lucy Primary, Trents, St. Lucy, and Hillaby Turner???s Hall Primary, St. Thomas, on Thursday, December 18.??Meetings in December will conclude at Blackman and Gollop Primary, Staple Grove, Christ Church, and St. George Primary, Constant, St. George, on Saturday, December 20.

The first meetings for the New Year will be held on Tuesday, January 6, at A. DaCosta Edwards Primary School, Belleplaine, St. Andrew, and at the Eden Lodge Primary, Eden Lodge, St. Michael.

These will be followed by two others on Saturday, January 10, at Princess Margaret Secondary School in Six Roads, St. Philip, and Wesley Hall Primary, King Street, St. Michael.

Town hall sessions on the Common Entrance Examination will culminate on Sunday, January 11, at St. John???s Primary, Glebe Land, St. John, and St. Joseph Primary, Horse Hill, St. Joseph. All meetings begin at 5:00 p.m.

Parents and guardians have been urged by the Ministry of Education to attend any meeting considered to be convenient for them.
