Communication: I Can Communicate is the theme chosen for all activities which St. Giles Nursery School will undertake throughout the school year.

The purpose of the theme is to build, at an early age, an awareness of the importance of communication in the daily lives of the students.

Students will be provided with opportunities to explore the different methods of communication including reporting, singing, dancing, signing, use of body language and reading, among others. They will also be made aware of the various devices used in communication as well as the persons who work in the communication industry.

A key objective of the project, therefore, is to allow children to have an appreciation for communication in and out of school.??The tiny tots have been divided into six groups which are named after a method of communication that is an integral part of their course of study.

These are: The Significant Signers; The Roving Reporters; The Brilliant Broadcasters; The Busy Bookworms; The Dynamic Dancers and The Sensational Singers.

They will undertake tours of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation; One Caribbean Media; The Nation Publishing Company; The Advocate Newspaper; Gun Hill Signal Station and Grenade Hall.

The school will officially launch Communication: I Can Communicate next Monday, February 17, at its location in The Ivy, St. Michael, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Minister in the Prime Minister???s Office, Senator Darcy Boyce will deliver the feature address, while Project Coordinator, Fiona Ifill, will give an overview of this year???s project. Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ronald Jones, will also attend the function.
