The Environmental Health Department at the Eunice Gibson Polyclinic will host a community health fair on Saturday, December 14, on the grounds of the Bush Hall Resource Centre, Bush Hall, St. Michael.

The fair, which will run from 1:00 to 6:30 p.m., will feature cultural performances by the Grazettes Innovative Arts Medium, the Israel Lovell Foundation, Act Now Barbados and Windsor High School.

In keeping with its theme, Empowering You For A Healthy Life, there will be free health screening for diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol.  Tetanus and flu shots will also be available.

Patrons may visit booths providing information on rodents and mosquitoes, eye care, solid waste management, recycling techniques and HIV.

Members of the newly formed Bush Hall Environmental Health Committee will be on hand to greet patrons.

Bush Hall and surrounding areas have been the target of a clean-up campaign by the Environmental Health Department over the last three weeks.

The campaign, which aimed to reduce the mosquito and rodent population in the densely populated communities by removing bulk refuse, was carried out in collaboration with private and public sector stakeholders.
