Hundreds of Barbadians are expected to throng the Jackie Opel Amphitheatre, General Post Office, Cheapside, Bridgetown on Saturday, August 25, for the official launch of this year’s Community Independence Celebrations.

Craftsmen of Our Fate…Inspiring Pride and Unity is the theme of the celebrations, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. and again be sponsored by Goddard Enterprises Ltd.

There will be performances by Adrian "AC" Clarke, SKF Eden Lodge Steel Orchestra, Sister Marshall, Sing Out Barbados, and Nicholas’ AJ’s Square Dancers, among others.

In addition, there will be addresses by Minister of Family, Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley; an official of Goddard Enterprises; and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education, Professor Pedro Welch, who will discuss the topic Craftsmen of Our Fate. Minister Lashley will also present the Jackie Opel Spouge Award.
