More Barbadians will be exposed to computer training when the Community Technology Programme restarts on September 8.

The 13 week programme will be conducted at 15 Resource Centres across the island.

Introductory computer courses will be offered at the St. Andrew’s Primary School, St. Lucy Secondary School, Mount Tabor Primary, St. John, St Mary’s Primary School, The St. Michael School, The Lester Vaughan School and the Irving Wilson School.

The use of select schools for the programme was made possible through a Ministry of Education and Community Development Department (CDD) collaboration.

In an effort to reduce the island’s unemployment rate even further, the CDD will also be offering Level II income-generating courses.

Participants in these programmes can become proficient in computer courses such as Word and Power Point, Access, Excel and Publisher, Microsoft Outlook and the Internet.

These courses will be taught at Resource Centres located at Black Bess, St. Peter; Deacons, Haggatt Hall and Grazettes, St. Michael; St. Christopher, Christ Church; Weston, St. James and St Elizabeth, St. Joseph.

In phase two of the Computer Technology Programme, participants will be instructed in courses such as Web Page Design, Computer Programme Writing, Business Office Technology, Computer Repair and Installation.

Application forms may be collected from all Community and Resource Centres, the Community Development Department, all Post Offices and Libraries across the island.

The deadline for receipt of applications is August 30.
