A new sustainable energy project entitled: Piloting a Resource Efficient Low Carbon and Circular Industrial Partnership Platform for Catalysing Eco-Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Barbados (RECIPPEE-Barbados) has been launched under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development.

To this end, the two have signed a Joint Declaration dealing with the planning, design and implementation of a programme. It aims to pilot an integrated infrastructure-based enabling mechanism to assist in driving eco-based (including sustainable energy) and innovative industrial solutions to the sustainable development challenges impacting Barbados.

The Ministry and UNIDO are currently in the startup phase of implementing the first phase project entitled: Strategic Platform to Accelerate Sustainable Energy Technology Innovation, Industry Development and Entrepreneurship in Barbados, and are seeking to partner with local firms in the preparation of a document for submission to the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

Interested persons should visit the UNIDO website and the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency website for further details.
