A national public awareness consultation on proposed changes to the CARICOM Regional Standard – Specification for the Labelling of Pre-packaged Foods (CRS 5) and the national equivalent – BNS 5 Part 2 will take place here next week.

It will be held on Tuesday, February 12, at the Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The aim is to inform the public of upcoming changes and to garner support for those changes. The theme for the consultation will be: Knowledge is NOT power! The APPLICATION of knowledge is power.

Panellists will include Technical Officer with the Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI), Cheryl Lewis; Senior Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Arthur Phillips; Director of the Women’s Organization for Research and Development (WORD), Dr. Grace Showan; and Executive Director of Healthy Caribbean Coalition, Maisha Hutton.

The consultation is being hosted by the BNSI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Wellness, WORD, and The Healthy Caribbean Coalition. All are invited to attend.
